Count/Non-Count

 

"Count" words are things that we can count such as chairs, apples, and people. 
"Non-Count" words are things that we can't count such as liquids, gases, or things that are so small that they are impossible to count (like sand). 
 
We use different expressions with count and non-count words.  They are listed below. 
 

Count

Describing Quantities
There are a lot.     (Hay muchos.)
There are some.     (Hay algunos.)
There are a few.     (Hay pocos.)
There aren't any.    (No hay ningunos.)
Questions
Are there any _____?     (¿Hay algunos _____?)
How many are there?     (¿Cuántos hay?)

 

Non-Count

Describing Quantities
There is a lot.    (Hay mucho.)
 There is some.    (Hay algo.)
There is a little.     (Hay poco.)
There isn't any.     (No hay nada de.)
Questions
Is there any _____?     (¿Hay algo de _____?)
(¿Cuánto hay?)

Practice
Answer the questions using expressions to describe quantity.  In some there is more than one possible correct answer.

Instructions
Find the mistake (error) in the following sentences.  Write the sentence correctly.

ANTES DE REVISAR
Si escribió dos espacios entre las palabras en lugar de uno, la computadora va a interpretar que es un error al revisar.  También asegure que escribió correctamente las letras en mayúsculas o minúsculas como corresponde y que escribió el punto al final.
